Representative Sharon Chung

Freshman State Rep in IL-91

State Representative Sharon Chung is a mother, dedicated teacher and musician, and lifelong Illinoisan. As a professional violist and violinist, Sharon is an active member of the American Federation of Musicians Local 301 and performs on stages across Central Illinois. 

 

The daughter of Korean immigrants, Sharon moved to Bloomington to attend college at Illinois Wesleyan University before attending graduate school at Northwestern University. She was drawn back to the community when starting her family and has called Bloomington home since 2009, where she lives with her two daughters. 

 

In 2018, Sharon became the first Asian-American to be elected in the history of McLean County when she won a seat on the County Board where she pushed for increased transparency. Elected as state representative in 2022, Sharon has been fighting for working families and is a tireless advocate for the residents of the 91st District.

The 91st District includes portions of McLean, Peoria, Tazewell, and Woodford Counties.
